BSP Swivel Female x BSP Tapered Male Straight Adaptor

BSP swivel female one end, BSP tapered male the other. The standard part for bringing a BSP hose out of a tapered port, and one of the most-used adaptors on the shelf.

Thread Standards

• BSP Swivel Female – BSPP to ISO 228 with a 60° internal cone seat. It seals on the cone and swivels, so it needs no tape or sealant.
• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.

How to Choose

• The swivel female seals on its 60° cone and turns freely, so the hose is not wound up as you tighten.
• The tapered male seals on the thread and needs sealant. Keep it off the female cone.
• Unequal sizes are stocked, so check the port and the hose end separately.

Technicians Advice

Do the tapered male first, wipe your hands, then handle the swivel cone. Sealant carried across onto a cone face passes a pressure test and then seeps in service, which is the hardest kind of leak to find.

• BSP Swivel Female – Hose ends across Australian-built assemblies, and anywhere a joint has to be broken and remade repeatedly.
• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
