Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Female – BSPP to ISO 228. It needs a bonded washer or a cone seat to seal, because a parallel thread cannot seal on itself.

How to Choose

• A parallel female does not seal on the thread. Each male going in needs a bonded washer or a 60° cone seat.
• Do not wind a BSPT tapered male into it. A tapered male bottoms part way and leaves a gap you cannot close with torque.
• Equal and unequal sizes are stocked, so check both males rather than assuming they match.

Technicians Advice

Two joints in one part means two seals to get right, and the one at the back is the one people forget. Fit a fresh bonded washer on each male and make sure both faces are clean and square before you wind them down.
