JIC 37° Swivel Female x JIC 37° Male 45° Compact Elbow

A JIC-to-JIC 45° that adds a bend to an existing assembly without re-making the hose. The swivel female takes the hose end, the male goes into the port or the next fitting, and nothing has to be wound up to line it up.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Swivel Female – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals on the 37° cone seat and swivels, so the hose is never wound up during assembly.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• Both ends are 37° cone. The sizes do not have to match, and a female 12 to male 08 is a common way to step down at the port.
• JIC 37° and SAE 45° flare look similar and share some thread sizes. The wrong cone angle seals briefly and then weeps.
• Never tape a JIC thread. It seals on the cone, and tape on the thread only holds the cone off its seat.

Where You’ll Find It

• JIC 37° Swivel Female – Hose ends on imported machinery, where the swivel lets the assembly be fitted without winding up the hose.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

Tighten the swivel nut until the cones meet, then go a defined amount further: roughly one sixth of a turn on small sizes, a quarter on large. Chasing a JIC weep with more torque flattens the cone and turns a reusable joint into scrap.
