JIC 37° Male x Metric Stud Male 90° Compact Elbow

Metric stud into a European port, JIC out to the hose, turned 90°. Fitted where European machinery has been re-hosed with JIC ends, which is common on imported plant working in Australia.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• Metric Stud Male – metric straight thread with a captive soft seal. It seals on a bonded washer or O-ring under the stud shoulder, not on the thread.

How to Choose

• The metric stud seals on a bonded washer or O-ring under the shoulder, not on the thread.
• Confirm the metric thread pitch against the port. Metric ports of the same diameter come in more than one pitch.
• The JIC end stays dry. Tape only belongs on tapered threads, and neither end here is tapered.

Technicians Advice

The soft seal under the stud shoulder is the whole joint. Fit a new one every time and make sure the port face is clean and flat. A reused washer that has already been crushed will not take up the gap a second time.
