BSP Tapered Male x Metric Heavy (S) Male 90° Compact Elbow

BSPT into the local port, DIN 2353 heavy-series 24° cone out to European tube or hose, turned 90°. The heavy series is specified where working pressures are high, so this is a pressure-line fitting rather than a return-line one.

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• Heavy (S) and light (L) metric series overlap on some threads but differ in tube diameter and pressure rating. Confirm the series before ordering.
• Metric 24° sizes are given by tube outside diameter, so 16S suits 16 mm heavy-series tube.
• Tape or sealant on the BSPT end only. The metric cone seals on itself.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – European machinery on the pressure side, where working pressures exceed the light series rating.

Technicians Advice

If the original was heavy series, replace it with heavy series. A light-series body that threads on will feel perfectly normal on the bench and then split at the thinnest section under working pressure, usually without warning and usually at the worst time.
