BSP Tapered Male x Metric Light (L) Male 90° Compact Elbow

BSPT to DIN 2353 light-series metric at 90°. The common European-to-local crossover on return, drain and pilot lines where the light series is the correct specification.

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.

How to Choose

• Light series suits moderate pressure. Do not substitute it where a heavy-series fitting was originally fitted.
• Metric sizing follows tube outside diameter, not thread diameter.
• BSPT end takes tape or sealant; the 24° metric cone must stay dry.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.

Cross-Reference

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21, written R for male. Sometimes labelled PT or BSP taper.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

Check whether the mating metric cone carries a soft seal or runs bare metal, and match it. A soft-seal cone against a hard-seal mating part will pull up tight and still weep, because the O-ring is carrying no load and the metal faces were never meant to seal on their own.
