BSP Tapered Male x Metric Heavy (S) Male Straight Adaptor

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• Heavy (S) and light (L) overlap on some threads but differ in tube diameter and pressure rating. Confirm the series first.
• Metric 24° sizes are given by tube outside diameter, so 16S suits 16mm heavy-series tube.
• Tape or sealant on the BSPT end only. The metric cone seals on itself.

Technicians Advice

If the original was heavy series, replace it with heavy series. A light-series body that threads on will feel perfectly normal on the bench and then split at the thinnest section under working pressure, usually without warning.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – European machinery on the pressure side, where working pressures exceed the light series rating.
