Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Female – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the thread interference and must be taped or sealed.

How to Choose

• Both ends are tapered female, so whatever screws in must be BSPT male. NPT will start and then damage the casting.
• BSP is a 55° thread form; NPT is 60°. They are not interchangeable at any size.
• Check the body pressure rating if this sits in a working line rather than on a tank.

Technicians Advice

With sealant on both ends there is twice the chance of squeezing excess into the bore. Use a liquid thread sealant rather than tape where the elbow feeds a valve or pump, because a tape tail that lets go will find its way into a spool and jam it.
