BSP Parallel Male x Metric Light (L) Male Straight Adaptor

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.

How to Choose

• Light series suits moderate pressure. If the original was heavy series, do not step down because the thread matches.
• Metric sizes refer to tube outside diameter, so a 12L suits 12mm tube.
• Bonded washer at the BSPP end, 24° cone at the metric end, no tape anywhere.

Technicians Advice

Check whether the mating metric cone carries a soft seal or runs bare metal and match it. A soft-seal cone against a hard-seal part feels tight and still weeps, because the O-ring carries no load and the metal faces were never meant to seal alone.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228 / BS 2779, written G. Also called BSP parallel or gas thread.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
