JIC 37° Male x Metric Heavy (S) Male Straight Adaptor

JIC 37° one end, metric heavy series 24° cone the other. Bridges an American or Australian JIC hose to the heavy series metric ports on European machinery, where the pressures are up and the wall thickness matters.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy series. It seals on the 24° cone and is built for higher pressures than the light series.

How to Choose

• Heavy (S) and light (L) series share thread sizes in places but the cone and body are different. An S body will not seal in an L port.
• The metric end runs a 24° cone, the JIC end a 37° cone. Two different angles on one part, so do not swap the ends around in your head.
• Match the S series to the pressure of the circuit. Heavy series exists because light series runs out of headroom on the pump side.

Technicians Advice

On the metric end, check whether the mating part is a plain 24° cone or has an O-ring captured in it. Both exist on the same machine, and an O-ring cone pulled into a plain seat will hold for a shift then let go. Look into the port with a torch before you commit.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – European machinery on the pressure side, where working pressures exceed the light series rating.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• Metric Heavy (S) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, heavy (S) series. Parker EO / EO-2.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
