VCC Pressure Compensated Flow Control Valve - 1/4" to 1/2" BSPP

This is the one you buy when the speed has to stay the same no matter what the load does. A compensator spool inside holds a constant pressure drop across the orifice, so the flow you dial in is the flow you get whether the ram is loaded or free. Inline body with reverse free flow and a lockable steel knob.

Pick your valve

The 1/4" and 3/8" share a body, so they are the same price. The difference is the port thread and the flow the body will pass.

How to choose

• Size on the flow you want to regulate, not on the pump. The valve only needs to pass the metered flow.
• Leave headroom. A compensator needs a few bar of drop to work, so do not pick a valve that is already at its limit.
• Constant speed is the whole point. If the speed can wander with load, buy the cheaper plain flow control.
• Reverse direction runs free, so the return is not slowed.
• Over 33 L/min? Call us and we will size a priority valve instead.

Technicians Advice

People buy these to fix a problem a plain flow control caused, usually a boom that creeps faster as it comes down or a drill feed that changes speed as it bites. The compensator needs a pressure drop to work with, so if you starve it, set it right at the top of its range or run it with almost no pressure difference across the valve, it stops compensating and behaves like a plain restriction. Give yourself a size in hand. Lock the knob once you have it set: these get bumped in service and an unlocked knob is the reason a machine that was right last month is not right today. Filtration is 15 micron and the compensator spool is the part that suffers first in dirty oil, so if the speed starts wandering again after a year, look at the oil before you condemn the valve. BSPP parallel ports seal on a bonded washer, never on tape.
