Oleoweb STUF Throttle Valve with Reverse Flow Check - 1/4" to 1-1/2" BSPP
The STUF is the STBF throttle valve with a reverse flow check built into the same body. Oil is metered one way and runs free the other, so a ram goes out at the speed you set and comes back at full pump speed. Same steel body, same panel mount option, same seven port sizes.

How to choose
- Point the free flow arrow the way you want fast. Metered flow is the other direction.
- Meter the return line on a load that can run away. Restricting the inlet does nothing about an overrunning load.
- Leave adjustment in hand. Aim to run at about two thirds of the listed flow.
- Watch the pressure column on the two biggest sizes.
- Speed must hold as the load changes? You want the pressure compensated valve instead.
Technicians Advice
The check valve inside only bypasses the needle, it holds nothing. People fit one of these on a boom or a tipper and assume the free flow direction means the load is captured, and it is not, so use a pilot operated check or a counterbalance if the load has to stay put. Set the restriction with the machine warm and the load on, because a setting dialled in cold and unloaded will be well out once the oil is hot. Fit it as close to the actuator as the plumbing allows: a long run of hose between the valve and the ram acts like a spring and makes fine speed control mushy. If you are panel mounting, tighten the nut against the panel, never against the valve body, or the adjustment stem goes stiff.
