Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• BSP Parallel Female – BSPP to ISO 228. It needs a bonded washer or a cone seat to seal, because a parallel thread cannot seal on itself.

How to Choose

• A test point tee puts a gauge or sender port into a live line without breaking into it permanently.
• The two JIC ports seal dry on their cones. The BSPP test port needs a washer or cone seat.
• Keep sealant off both JIC cones.

Technicians Advice

Cap the test port between uses. And when the gauge does go on, fit it before you pressurise rather than cracking a live port to get it in.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• JIC 37° Swivel Female – Hose ends on imported machinery, where the swivel lets the assembly be fitted without winding up the hose.
• BSP Parallel Female – Female side of BSPP manifolds, adaptor blocks and gauge assemblies on local equipment.
