JIC 37° Male x SAE O-Ring Boss Male 45° Compact Elbow

O-ring boss into the port, JIC out to the hose, bent 45°. This is the correct way to feed a hose off an SAE straight-thread boss: the O-ring does the sealing at the port and the JIC cone handles the hose end.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• SAE O-Ring Boss Male (UNO/UNF) – SAE J1926 / ISO 11926 straight thread O-ring boss. It seals on an O-ring squeezed against the port spotface, not on the thread.

How to Choose

• The ORB end suits a machined boss with a spotface. It will not seal in a tapered port no matter how tight it goes.
• Adjustable versions with a locknut and washer let you clock the elbow to a set angle. This body seats in a fixed orientation.
• Check the O-ring material against the fluid. Standard nitrile is wrong for phosphate ester and for some synthetic oils.

Where You’ll Find It

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• SAE O-Ring Boss Male (UNO/UNF) – Cylinder end caps, pump and valve bosses on US-built plant. Common on Australian-assembled cylinders too, where it is usually called UNO.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• SAE O-Ring Boss Male (UNO/UNF) – SAE J1926 / ISO 11926 straight thread O-ring boss. Also written ORB, SAE ORB or UNO. Thread form is UN/UNF.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Technicians Advice

If the elbow has to point a particular way, use the adjustable version rather than backing this one off to aim it. Backing off an ORB fitting to clock it unloads the O-ring, and that joint will seep every time the machine gets up to temperature.
