What micron hydraulic filter should I use? 10 micron nominal on the return line suits most machinery. 3-6 micron absolute for servo/proportional valves. 90 micron mesh or 149 micron strainers for suction only.
Suction strainer or suction filter? A strainer is a simple in-tank mesh (cheap, wash and reuse). A suction filter unit adds a replaceable spin-on element, a bypass valve and a gauge port - better protection for dirty environments.
What thread are spin-on hydraulic filter cans? Ours are 3/4" BSPP (4"/5" cans), 1-1/4" BSPP (large cans) and 1-1/2" UNF for US/agricultural heads - each has its own listing below.
How often should hydraulic filters be changed? First change at 50 hours on a new or repaired system, then every 500 hours or annually - or fit a clogging gauge and change on condition.
