Choosing the right hydraulic motor is vital for keeping your machinery running smoothly and efficiently. Whether you are working in agriculture, mining, or manufacturing, understanding the differences between motor types ensures you get the best performance for your budget. Below is an introduction to the three most popular designs: Gerotor, Geroler, and Disc Valve motors.
The Gerotor hydraulic motor is the standard choice for light-duty tasks. The name comes from "Generated Rotor". It uses an inner gear and an outer gear ring. Because the inner gear has one less tooth than the outer ring, it creates pockets that open and close as fluid flows through, turning hydraulic pressure into rotation.
Most Common Uses: Light-duty conveyors, radiator cooling fans, and small agricultural equipment like seeders.
A Geroler motor is an upgraded version of the Gerotor. The main difference is that it features hardened rollers between the gear teeth. These rollers reduce friction and create a tighter seal, which helps the motor last much longer.
Most Common Uses: Medium-duty machinery such as skid steer attachments, car wash brushes, and food processing lines.
While Gerotor and Geroler motors use a spool valve to move oil, Disc Valve motors use a separate, heavy-duty valve plate. This clever design allows the motor to handle much higher pressure and heavier loads without breaking down.
Most Common Uses: Heavy-duty construction equipment, large winches, timber harvesters, and swing drives for excavators.
| Feature | Gerotor Motors | Geroler Motors | Disc Valve Motors |
|---|---|---|---|
| Duty Cycle | Light Duty | Medium Duty | Heavy Duty |
| Efficiency | Moderate | High | Very High |
| Contact Type | Sliding | Rolling | Low-Leakage Disc |
| Best For | Budget projects | Smoothness & Reliability | Extreme Power & Load |

Shipping & Freight Information
We ship hydraulic components across Australia from warehouses in Queensland, Victoria, South Australia, and Western Australia. Because we sell solid steel components — cylinders, pumps, motors, fittings, and hose assemblies — freight costs reflect real weight and real distance.
We do not hide freight costs in inflated product prices. What you see is what you pay.
Hydraulic components are manufactured from solid steel. A single motor can weigh between 6 and 25 kg depending on displacement. Freight costs vary by product weight, dimensions, and your delivery location. We have negotiated the best available carrier rates for our volume and absorb a portion of freight cost on every order.
