SAE Code 61 Flange x JIC 37° Male 45° Swept Elbow

The long-radius version of the Code 61 flange to JIC crossover. Where the compact 45 turns tight against the pump face, the swept body carries the bend out on a gentler radius, which lowers turbulence and gives the hose a kinder entry angle. Used on Caterpillar, John Deere, Komatsu and Hitachi pump and motor ports.

Thread Standards

• SAE Code 61 Flange – SAE J518 Code 61 standard-pressure split flange. It seals on an O-ring captured in the flange head face, clamped by four bolts.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• Choose swept over compact when the line is a main pressure or suction leg and flow losses matter, or when the hose needs room to leave the port on a natural curve.
• Swept bodies are longer. Check clearance to guarding and adjacent hoses before ordering.
• Code 61 and Code 62 are not interchangeable. Confirm the head thickness and O-ring groove match the port before ordering.

• SAE Code 61 Flange – Pump, motor and valve block ports from around 3/4 inch upward on US and Japanese built plant.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

• SAE Code 61 Flange – SAE J518 Code 61 / ISO 6162-1 split flange. Also called a 4-bolt flange or standard-pressure flange.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

On suction and case-drain lines the swept radius is worth the extra length, because a tight compact bend right at the pump inlet is a common cause of cavitation noise that gets blamed on the pump. If the machine whines under load and the pump tests fine, look at the shape of the fittings feeding it.
