SAE Code 61 Flange x JIC 37° Male 45° Compact Elbow

Takes a Code 61 split-flange port on a pump, motor or valve block and turns it into a JIC 37° male at 45°. Standard fare on Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH and most US-built plant where the pump port is flanged and the hose runs JIC.

Thread Standards

• SAE Code 61 Flange – SAE J518 Code 61 standard-pressure split flange. It seals on an O-ring captured in the flange head face, clamped by four bolts.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• Code 61 and Code 62 share bolt spacing at some sizes but differ in head thickness and O-ring groove. A Code 61 head in a Code 62 port will not seal.
• Match the flange size to the port and the JIC size to the hose. They are often different on the same fitting.
• Flange clamp halves and bolts are ordered separately unless the item states otherwise.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

• SAE Code 61 Flange – SAE J518 Code 61 / ISO 6162-1 split flange. Also called a 4-bolt flange or standard-pressure flange.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

Torque the four flange bolts in a diagonal cross pattern over two or three passes, never one bolt at a time. Pulling one corner down first tips the head and pinches the O-ring on one side. It will pass a cold pressure test and then leak once the machine heat cycles.
