BSP Tapered Male x JIC 37° Male 45° Compact Elbow

The BSPT-to-JIC crossover in a compact 45° bend, and one of the most-reached-for adaptors on the truck. Tapered male screws into the Australian-standard port, JIC male takes the imported hose assembly, and the 45° body keeps the hose off the guarding. Constant duty on Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat and other US-built plant.

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / AS 1651. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° flare.

How to Choose

• First number is the BSPT port end, second is the JIC dash size.
• Mate the JIC end to a 37° swivel female tail so the hose does not wind up.
• Compact body for tight valve banks; swept bend if the hose needs a softer radius.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

Cross-Reference

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21, written R for male. Sometimes labelled PT or BSP taper.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

One end wants sealant and one absolutely does not, and mixing them up is the most common leak we see on this fitting. Tape the BSPT male going into the port. Leave the JIC end bone dry – it seals on the 37° flare. If the JIC weeps, the answer is never more torque: pull it apart and look at the cone, because a scored seat will not seal no matter how hard you pull on it.
