BSP Parallel Male x ORFS Male 45° Compact Elbow

Connects a BSP parallel port to an O-ring face seal line through a short 45° bend. ORFS is what modern OEMs specify when they want a joint that just does not weep, so this elbow is the usual way of bringing older BSP plumbing up to a late-model machine. Found on Volvo CE, Liebherr, JLG and late-model leak-free OEM circuits.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 1179 / BS 2779. It seals on a 60° cone seat or a bonded washer under the hex.
• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3. It seals on the O-ring in the flat face.

How to Choose

• First number is the BSP end, second is the ORFS dash size.
• Check the O-ring is present and undamaged before fitting – the joint seals on it, not on the threads.
• Compact body for tight pump and valve faces; use a swept bend if the hose needs a gentler radius.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• ORFS Male – High-pressure, high-vibration circuits on late-model excavators, drill rigs, crushers and forestry gear.

Technicians Advice

The whole joint lives or dies on that face O-ring. Fit it dry and clean, make sure it is seated in the groove and not pinched as you bring the faces together, and never reuse one that has been squashed flat or nicked. Torque is only there to hold the faces together, so cranking harder will not stop a leak caused by a damaged seal – it will just distort the face. Keep a spare O-ring kit on the truck.
