BSP Parallel Male x JIC 37° Male 90° Compact Elbow

BSPP into the Australian-standard port, JIC 37° male out to the imported hose assembly, turned hard at 90°. One of the most-used crossover elbows on mixed local and US-built plant.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• Two completely different sealing systems: a bonded washer at the BSPP end, a metal cone at the JIC end. Neither takes tape.
• Size each end independently. The port size and the hose size are often not the same.
• JIC 37° and BSP 60° cone seats are not interchangeable even where a nut will thread on.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228 / BS 2779, written G. Also called BSP parallel or gas thread.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

If you are working on a machine that has been repaired before, check that someone has not already forced a BSP hose end onto the JIC cone. The 37 and 60 degree seats will pull up and hold pressure briefly, then weep once the oil warms. A witness ring at the wrong angle on the cone is the giveaway.
