BSP Parallel Male x BSP Swivel Female 90° Compact Elbow

Parallel male into the port, swivel female out to the hose, turned 90°. The swivel end means the hose can be lined up and tightened without twisting it, which is why this is the standard way to bring a BSP hose off a BSP port at a right angle.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• BSP Swivel Female – BSPP to ISO 228 with a 60° internal cone seat. It seals on the cone and swivels, so it needs no tape or sealant.

How to Choose

• The swivel female seals on a 60° cone seat, so it takes no tape or sealant at all.
• The parallel male end needs a bonded washer against the port face.
• Check the port is parallel and not tapered before ordering. The two thread forms start the same and then bind.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• BSP Swivel Female – Hose ends across Australian-built assemblies, and anywhere a joint has to be broken and remade repeatedly.

Technicians Advice

Two different sealing methods on one fitting catches people out. Tape belongs on neither end here, and if the swivel weeps the answer is to look at the cone seat for a score mark rather than to keep pulling on it. Overtightening a 60° cone bells the seat and then nothing will seal it.
