BSP Parallel Male x Metric Light (L) Male 90° Compact Elbow

BSPP to DIN 2353 light-series metric at 90°. The everyday European-to-local crossover on return lines, pilot lines and lower-pressure work where the light series is correct.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light series. It seals on the 24° cone, normally with an O-ring captured in the cone.

How to Choose

• Light (L) series suits moderate pressures. If the original fitting was heavy series, do not step down to light just because the thread matches.
• Metric sizes refer to tube outside diameter, so a 12L fitting suits 12 mm tube.
• Bonded washer at the BSPP end, 24° cone at the metric end, no tape anywhere.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• Metric Light (L) Male – European-built machinery – Liebherr, Wacker Neuson, Atlas, Sennebogen, Manitou – and imported tube assemblies. Light series suits return, drain and pilot lines.

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228 / BS 2779, written G. Also called BSP parallel or gas thread.
• Metric Light (L) Male – DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 24° cone, light (L) series. Parker call this range EO and EO-2, historically branded Ermeto. Also called bite type.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

Check whether the mating metric cone carries a soft seal or is bare metal, and match it. A soft-seal cone run against a hard-seal mating part will feel tight and still weep, because the O-ring is doing nothing and the metal faces were never designed to touch.
