BSP Parallel Male x JIC 37° Male 45° Compact Elbow

The everyday BSP-to-JIC crossover in a tight 45° bend. Australian gear runs BSP, imported plant runs JIC, and this is the compact elbow that marries the two without a stack of adaptors. Common on Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat and other US-built plant when they are plumbed into Australian-built attachments and tipper circuits.

Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 1179 / BS 2779. It seals on a 60° cone seat or a bonded washer under the hex.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / AS 1651. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° flare.

How to Choose

• First number is the BSP end, second is the JIC dash size – they are often different, so read both.
• Compact body suits crowded valve banks and manifold faces where a swept bend will not fit.
• Pair with a JIC swivel female hose tail so the hose can be tightened without twisting.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228 / BS 2779, written G. Also called BSP parallel or gas thread.
• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.

Technicians Advice

JIC seals on the 37° flare, metal to metal, so it needs no tape and no sealant – overtightening only work-hardens and scores the cone. Nip it up and give it a fraction more. If it weeps after correct torque the flare is scored: crack it off, inspect the seat, replace the fitting if you can catch a fingernail on the mark. The BSP parallel end seals on its own cone or bonded washer, again dry.
