Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.
• BSP Swivel Female – BSPP to ISO 228 with a 60° internal cone seat. It seals on the cone and swivels, so it needs no tape or sealant.

How to Choose

• The swivel female seals on its 60° internal cone and turns freely, so the hose is never twisted during assembly.
• The parallel male end still needs a bonded seal washer or a cone seat in the port. It does not seal on the thread.
• Unequal sizes are stocked, so measure both ends rather than assuming they match.

Technicians Advice

The most common BSP leak is a bonded washer left off or reused flat on the male end. It is a two dollar part holding the whole joint. Fit a fresh one and make sure the port face is clean and square before you wind it down.

Where You’ll Find It

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
• BSP Swivel Female – Hose ends across Australian-built assemblies, and anywhere a joint has to be broken and remade repeatedly.
