ORFS Swivel Female x ORFS Male 90° Compact Elbow

Flat-face O-ring seal at both ends in a hard 90°. ORFS is the standard for high-pressure work that shakes - excavators, drill rigs, crushers - because the seal is an O-ring on a flat face rather than a cone that can fret loose.

Thread Standards

• ORFS Swivel Female – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It clamps down onto the male flat face O-ring and swivels for alignment.
• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It seals on an O-ring sitting in the flat face groove, never on the thread.

How to Choose

• Match the flat face size, not just the thread. ORFS threads repeat across different face diameters.
• The O-ring lives in the male face. Check it is there and undamaged before assembly.
• ORFS and JIC are not interchangeable even where the nut appears to fit.

Technicians Advice

The usual ORFS failure is a nicked or twisted O-ring, not a loose nut. Wipe both faces, roll the O-ring into its groove rather than stretching it over the thread, and bring the swivel up square. Once the faces touch, very little extra torque is needed.

Where You’ll Find It

• ORFS Swivel Female – Hose ends on modern high-pressure plant where a cone joint would fret loose under vibration.
• ORFS Male – High-pressure, high-vibration circuits on late-model excavators, drill rigs, crushers and forestry gear.
