Crimp-on – how it goes together

This is the tail (stem) only. It is crimped onto low-pressure hose with a matching ferrule, which is a separate part. This is a low-pressure tail on its own crimp system. It does not take the FS‑R2 Multi‑Fit ferrule used on our braided-hose tails, and the crimp diameters are different. Call 1300 146 737 with your hose type and we will match the right ferrule to it.

Thread Standards

• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21, seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant

How to Choose

• A straight tail is the default. Only go to a bend when the hose would otherwise leave the port at an angle it does not like.
• Low-pressure duty only.
• The tapered thread seals on itself and needs a sealant rated for hydraulic oil.

Technicians Advice

Hand tight then two or three turns. Low-pressure housings are often alloy or thin-wall steel and they split far more easily than a pressure-rated port.

What “low pressure” means here

• These tails are built for the low-pressure side of a system – return lines, case drains, suction lines and tank lines.
• They are not a substitute for a braided-hose pressure tail. If the line sees pump pressure, use a two-piece tail on 1‑wire or 2‑wire hose instead.
• The working pressure of the finished assembly is set by the lowest-rated part in it – usually the hose. Check the hose rating and match the tail to it, not the other way round.
• Suction and return lines run at low pressure but move a lot of oil. Size on bore and flow, not on the thread you happen to have spare.
