JIC 37° Male x ORFS Male Straight Adaptor

JIC 37° one end, O-ring face seal the other. The changeover part for machines that are half JIC and half ORFS, which covers most mixed fleets running both American and late-model equipment.

Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.
• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It seals on an O-ring sitting in the flat face groove, never on the thread.

How to Choose

• The ORFS end seals on an O-ring in the flat face. The JIC end seals metal to metal. Neither end wants thread sealant.
• ORFS thread size does not tell you the line size. A 13/16-16 face seal end runs a 1/2" line.
• ORFS is the better choice on a high-vibration mount. If you have the option on the port side, put the face seal where the shaking is.

Technicians Advice

When you swap a machine from JIC to ORFS, do the whole circuit rather than a fitting at a time. A drawer with both standards in it and no labels is how a 37° cone ends up pulled into a flat face, and that one will let go under load.

• JIC 37° Male – Hose ends and ports on imported US and Asian machinery – Caterpillar, John Deere, Case IH, New Holland, Bobcat, Kubota, Takeuchi.
• ORFS Male – High-pressure, high-vibration circuits on late-model excavators, drill rigs, crushers and forestry gear.

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 / ISO 8434-2 37° flare. Parker call this series Triple-Lok. The industrial cousin of the AN 37° flare used in aviation and motorsport.
• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3 O-ring face seal. Parker call this series Seal-Lok. Also written ORFS or flat face.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.

Cross-references are given at series level as a guide to the standard, not as a part-for-part substitution. Always confirm the thread form, size and seal type against the port before ordering.
