Spin-On Hydraulic Oil Filters 3/4" BSPP - Elements & Complete Assemblies (CS050 / CS070)
European-made spin-on oil filters for hydraulic systems up to 100 L/min - log splitters, power packs, tippers, mini excavators, farm machinery. Works exactly like a car oil filter: when it is dirty, spin it off and spin a new one on.
Three ways to buy, in plain terms:
- Element Only - just the screw-on filter can. Pick this if you already have a filter head on your machine with a 3/4" BSPP thread.
- Element + RETURN Head (25psi bypass) - the can PLUS a new alloy mounting head. Pick this for the return line (oil going back to tank). This is the most common setup.
- Element + SUCTION Head (5psi bypass) - the can PLUS a head with a gentle bypass. Pick this for the suction line (between tank and pump), and use the 90 micron mesh element ONLY.
The picture changes as you pick - it always shows exactly what arrives in the box. All prices include GST.
Which micron do I pick?
- 10 micron nominal - the standard choice for return lines. If unsure, pick this.
- 25 micron nominal - older machines and high-flow gear circuits.
- 3 or 6 micron absolute - only needed for servo/proportional valves and fussy hydraulics.
- 90 micron mesh - suction duty only. NEVER put a fine element on the pump inlet - it starves the pump and wrecks it.
Which can length?
- 4" (148mm) - flows up to 35 L/min. Compact spaces.
- 5" (210mm) - flows up to 100 L/min and holds more dirt, so it lasts longer between changes. Same thread, same head - if you have room, go the 5".

What is in each kit: every complete-filter kit = one head + one element. Heads: return kits use FCS050RAG1TR (25psi), suction kits use FCS050SAG1TS (5psi). Elements by micron & length: 4" can = CS05000P10A / CS05000P25A / CS05000M90A / CS05000A03A / CS05000A06A; 5" can = CS07000P10A / CS07000P25A / CS07000M90A / CS07000A03A / CS07000A06A. Example: KIT-F050R-P10-4 = FCS050RAG1TR + CS05000P10A. Assembled by us before dispatch.
How to Choose
- Already have a head? Check the can thread is 3/4" BSPP (the old can screws off - measure the centre thread, approx 26.4mm outside diameter). Buy Element Only.
- Starting fresh? Buy a complete assembly - head ports are 3/4" BSPP in/out, bolt the head to the chassis or tank, plumb in, spin the can on. Done.
- Return or suction? Return line (oil going back to the tank) = RETURN head + 10 micron. Suction line (tank to pump) = SUCTION head + 90 micron mesh. If you only fit one filter on the machine, make it a 10 micron return.
- Flow rate: add up your pump flow in L/min. Up to 35 = 4" can. Up to 100 = 5" can. More than 100 L/min - use our 1-1/4" spin-on listing (link below).
Technicians Advice
Every head has a 1/8" BSPT gauge port - fit a clogging gauge (return manometer or suction vacuum gauge, in our Indicators listing below) and you will change elements exactly when needed, not by guesswork. Smear clean oil on the can seal before spinning on, tighten by hand plus 3/4 turn - no tools. Change the element after the first 50 hours on a new or rebuilt system, then every 500 hours or yearly. If the bypass is open (gauge in the red), the oil is NOT being filtered - change the can immediately. Suction heads: keep the element coarse (90 micron mesh) or the pump will cavitate - that rattling scream is the pump eating itself.
