Single acting, double acting, hollow and solid, 5 tonne up to 233 tonne. Every cylinder here works at 10,000 psi (700 bar), so the same pump and hose will run any of them.
Three things decide which one you need. Tonnage – take your load and add at least 20 percent, because the load is rarely centred. Stroke – how far it has to travel, measured with the job cold and settled. Height – a low profile or pancake cylinder gets under a load a standard ram cannot reach, and a hollow ram lets you pass a rod, bolt or cable straight through the middle for pulling and tensioning work.
Single acting cylinders return under spring or load and need one hose. Double acting cylinders are driven both ways, need two hoses and a pump with a four-way valve. If the load has to be held or pulled down as well as pushed up, you want double acting.
