
All three are low speed, high torque motors and they bolt up much the same way. The difference is inside, and it decides how hard you can work them.
Gerotor (MP, MM, HP, PL and MLHP series)
What is inside: A gear set slides against the stator. Simpler build, lower cost.
Suited to: Fans, augers, sweeper brushes and conveyors. Lighter duty, intermittent running.
Geroler (MR, MLHR, RL, MH, MLHH and HWS series) - including this motor
What is inside: Hardened rollers sit in the stator pockets, so the contact rolls rather than slides.
Suited to: More torque from the same frame size, much less internal wear, and it holds up running continuously under pressure. Winches, wheel and track drives, augers that work all day.
Disc Valve (MS, MT, MTM, MV, MYZ4B and MLH series)
What is inside: A flat rotating disc does the porting instead of a spool, so it seals better as pressure rises.
Suited to: The heavy end of the range. High pressure, high torque, long duty cycles - drilling, large drives, forestry and mining attachments.
If you are replacing a motor that kept wearing out in the same job, stepping up a type at the same displacement is usually the fix.
The M+S HWS Series is a heavy duty wheel drive Geroler motor. The gear set runs rollers on the star instead of fixed lobes, so it makes more torque for the same displacement, runs cooler under continuous load and survives the side loads a wheel or sprocket puts on the shaft. It bolts straight onto a 4 bolt wheel flange with an 82.5mm centring spigot.

This frame is the common replacement for wheel drive motors on John Deere 700 series zero turn mowers (7200, 737, 7400, 757, 777, 797, 8000, 8400), Dingo and Vermeer mini loaders and similar machines. Read this before you order: the sizes in the dropdown are the keyed shaft build (K4). Many mower and mini loader drives use the 1:8 tapered shaft with lock nut build instead (for example HWS 235 R 4 for the John Deere 700 series). Same motor frame, different shaft. If your old motor has a tapered shaft, do not buy from the dropdown — call 1300 146 737 or send the enquiry form and we will quote the tapered build same day.

Case drain is not optional. Every one of these motors has a 7/16 inch UNF drain on the head and it must run back to tank on its own line with almost no back pressure. Tee it into a return that sees 20 bar and you will blow the shaft seal, usually within a week. If you are replacing a motor that leaked, check the drain line before you blame the motor.
Wheel motors live or die on the bearing head. Torque the wheel bolts evenly and check the spigot seats fully in the hub — a motor hanging on the bolts alone will crack the flange. On mowers, the number one cause of a slow side is a worn motor OR a tired pump; measure case drain flow before you replace anything. More than about 1.5 L/min of case drain at working pressure means the gear set is done.
Keyed or tapered. Check the shaft before you order. Tapered shafts have a threaded end and a lock nut; keyed shafts have a parallel key. They are not interchangeable and the hub will not swap over.
