This brand new, high-quality directional control valve is specifically engineered for high-capacity log splitters. Built with a high tensile strength cast iron body and a hard chrome-plated, case-hardened steel spool, this unit is designed for formidable, long-lasting performance.

It features a spring-to-centre mechanism and a hydraulic kick-off with detent.

When you depress the lever, it operates the cylinder until released, springing safely back to the centre to stop movement. Once the cylinder reaches the bottom of its stroke, you place the lever into the retract position where the detent holds it.

Once fully retracted, it automatically "kicks off" into the neutral position, ready for your next log.

The lever can also be rotated 180 degrees to suit your specific ergonomic requirements or mounting setup.

Operation & Diagnostic Steps

To safely operate the splitter, pull the lever down to engage the detent direction for the retract cycle. The factory-set kick-off pressure of 800 psi is non-adjustable and relies on the system reaching this spike at the end of the cylinder stroke to disengage the detent.

If you need to fine-tune the splitting force, the built-in relief valve is adjustable up to the maximum operating pressure, though it comes preset at an optimal 2250 psi.

Technician’s Advice
To protect the tight tolerances of the hard chrome-plated spool, ensure your hydraulic system uses 10-micron filtration. Contaminated oil will rapidly degrade the spool seals and cause internal bypassing.

Always verify your fitting threads before installation. While many cylinders use BSP threads, this specific high-flow valve features NPT ports. Using the incorrect thread type may cause severe damage to the cast iron housing and internal threads .
