Protorc Low Clearance Torque Wrench Link – 27 mm to 155 mm Hex

The link is the part that actually goes over the nut on a low clearance torque wrench. It clips onto the wrench head and gives you a hex opening sized to the fastener, so the tool grips the flats directly with no socket and no drive taking up room. Six links covering 27 mm through to 155 mm across flats. Buy the link to match your head and your bolt.

Ways to buy

  • Six size ranges from 27 mm up to 155 mm across flats. The number in the model matches the head it pairs with – a PTLCL10 link goes on a PTLCH10 head.
  • Inserts step a link down to a smaller hex within its range. Tell us the sizes you need and we will quote them.
  • Tell us the exact across-flats size when you order – the link is built to a nominal hex within the range shown, and we will confirm it with you before it goes on the purchase order. If you are not sure, send a photo of the nut with a rule across it.
  • Head not included – see the low clearance wrench head listing, linked below.

How to choose

  • Measure across the flats of the nut with a vernier. Guessing off a bolt table is how you end up with a link that will not go on.
  • Match the number to your head. PTLCL20 goes on PTLCH20. A link will not fit a head from a different range.
  • More than one size on the job? Buy the link for the biggest and use inserts for the rest. It is cheaper than a second link.
  • Not sure? Send us a photo of the nut with a rule across it and the torque figure, and we will get it right.

Technicians Advice

Three things separate a torque wrench job that works from one that hurts someone.

The reaction arm. All the torque you put into the nut comes back out through that arm, so it has to sit flat and square against something solid and immovable – an adjacent nut, a flange edge, a structural member – not a pipe, not a conduit, not your hand, and never a hose or a cable. Feed the hoses so they run away from the reaction point, because an arm that swings will crush anything in its path without the operator feeling a thing.

The pressure to torque relationship is per wrench, not per range. Every unit ships with its own calibration chart, and the pressure you set on the pump only means the right torque on the wrench it was written for. Swap the wrench and you must swap the chart.

Use the right socket. Impact sockets only – a chrome hand socket will shatter at these torques – and the socket must be a proper fit; a worn or oversize socket rounds a nut in one stroke at 10,000 Nm.

Habits worth having: always run the wrench up in two or three steps rather than one go, so you can see the joint taking it evenly; and mark the nut and the flange with a paint pen so anyone walking past can tell at a glance what has been done and what has not.
