Thread Standards

• JIC 37° Male – SAE J514 37° flare. It seals metal-to-metal on the 37° cone, so it takes no tape at all.

How to Choose

• This is a spare part, sold on its own so a damaged one does not mean replacing the whole assembly.
• Nut and sleeve work as a pair. The sleeve backs up the flare and the nut supplies the load.
• Sized by tube outside diameter. Measure the tube rather than going by the fitting.
• The flare on the tube does the sealing, not the nut.

Technicians Advice

If a flared joint weeps, look at the flare itself before you blame the nut. A cracked or off-centre flare cannot be fixed with torque, and re-flaring the tube properly is the only cure.
