How to choose
- Z80 or MB5? Same flow class. The Z80 runs 1/2" work ports and the huge range of clip-on spool controls; the MB5 runs 3/4" work ports for bigger cylinders. If your rams have 1/2" hoses, the Z80 is the tidy fit.
- Float work (blades, brooms, levellers) – buy the factory float version, or convert any bank later with the float spool + controller 12 from the controls listing.
- Motors – use the motor-spool versions; the open centre lets the motor spin down instead of hammering to a stop.
Technicians Advice
The Z80's party trick is its clip-on spool controls – twelve different heads (detents, kick-outs, floats, two-position limiters) swap onto any bank with hand tools, so buy the valve plain and add behaviour when the job firms up. Respect the 50 bar tank limit: run the T and N ports in 3/4" line straight to tank, and if you daisy-chain a second valve use the proper power beyond sleeve, never a tee off the tank port. Relief comes preset at 220 bar – check it against your pump before the first hard lift, not after.
