HV Hydraulic Hand Pump - Single Acting, Remote Mount, 20 to 70 cc, 200 to 350 Bar

A remote mount hand pump bolts to a wall, a bulkhead or a chassis rail and draws from a tank somewhere else – the lever ends up where the operator stands, not where the oil lives. That is the whole point, and it is why these suit tow trucks, workshop presses and boat trailers where the reservoir finishes up under the deck. Made in Italy, cast iron body, relief valve fitted, dual action – oil moves on both strokes of the lever.

How to choose

• Relief valve or no relief valve? The BYB versions carry a pressure relief valve, so the circuit cannot be pulled past its setting no matter how hard the handle is worked. The plain 50 and 70 cc versions have no relief and run to the full rating of the pump element, which suits a rig that already has relief protection somewhere else in the circuit.
• Displacement and pressure trade off directly. 20 cc reaches 350 bar, 50 cc reaches 280, 70 cc reaches 200. Pick on pressure first.
• Do not order the 70 cc expecting high pressure. Fast fill AND high pressure together is the Hi-Lo two stage pump’s job.
• Keep the suction line short and fat, and the tank at or above the pump if the layout allows.
• Fit the release knob version unless something else in your circuit already lets the load down under control.

Technicians Advice

Suction is what makes or breaks a remote mount installation. A hand pump has no charge pressure to help it draw, so a long thin suction hose turns a two stroke lift into a ten stroke one and will convince the operator the pump is faulty. Keep the line short, keep it at least as big as the pump port, and get the tank at or above the pump wherever the layout allows.

Bolt the pump to something that will not flex – a 600 mm lever gives real leverage, and thin sheet will work a bracket loose inside a season – and check the full lever swing before you drill, including where the operator’s knuckles finish up. Read the pressure table rather than assuming: these three pumps do not share a rating, and the 70 cc tops out at 200 bar – if you have been quoted a 70 for a 300 bar job, someone has made a mistake.

All three deliver oil on the push and the pull, which is why they feel quicker than the displacement figure suggests. If you fit the version without the release knob, make sure something else in the circuit lets the load down deliberately before the day you need it.
