How the Hi-Lo Two-Speed System Works

Single Acting Operation: This pump powers your cylinder in one direction (typically extension/raise). The return stroke is achieved by gravity or a spring. If powered retraction is required, pair this pump with a double acting directional control valve, or see our separate double acting pump listings.
Mounting Flexibility — Vertical or Horizontal
The pump and tank assembly can be installed in either orientation to suit your application:
Vertical Mount — The 600 mm lever is pulled up and pushed down.
Horizontal Mount — The 600 mm lever is pulled out and pushed in.
The oil filler plug and breather are relocated to suit the chosen mounting orientation.

Technician's Advice
When selecting a Hi-Lo hand pump, match the stage displacements to your application — not just the maximum pressure rating. Stage 1 (high-volume / low-pressure) determines how quickly your cylinder extends under no load. Stage 2 (low-volume / high-pressure) determines the maximum force you can generate. For most tipping and lifting applications, the PM2V 5-80 offers an excellent balance of fast travel and high final force.
The pump and tank assembly must be mounted to a structure that is strong enough to support the combined weight of the pump (6.2 kg) and your chosen tank (2.2 to 8.3 kg), plus the dynamic forces applied during operation. The 600 mm lever can transmit up to 30 kg of alternating force — pulling up and pushing down in vertical mount, or pulling out and pushing in when horizontal. The mounting structure and fasteners must be rated to handle these repeated alternating loads safely.
The pressure relief valve is factory set to 400 Bar. It is adjustable from 50 to 500 Bar. Do not exceed the rated maximum of 500 Bar. Always set the relief valve before connecting to any cylinder or load, and verify the setting with a calibrated gauge at the 1/4" G pressure gauge prearrangement port.
Ensure the filler plug and breather are correctly positioned for your chosen mounting orientation — vertical or horizontal — before filling with oil and commissioning. Incorrect orientation of the breather will result in oil spillage or inadequate venting.

Because we sell solid steel components — pumps, tanks, cylinders, fittings, and hose assemblies — freight costs reflect real weight and real distance. We do not hide freight costs in inflated product prices. What you see is what you pay.
The pump head alone weighs 6.2 kg. Combined with a tank (2.2 to 8.3 kg), total assembly weight ranges from approximately 8.4 to 14.5 kg. Freight costs vary by product weight, dimensions, and your delivery location. We have negotiated the best available carrier rates for our volume and absorb a portion of freight cost on every order.
