Hydraulic Filter Clogging Indicators & Gauges - Know Exactly When to Change Elements

Stop guessing when to change filter elements. An indicator reads the pressure (or vacuum) across the element and tells you the moment it starts bypassing - change on condition, not by the calendar, and never run unfiltered oil unknowingly.

Match the indicator to the filter:

Suction & return gauges/switches (1/8" BSPT) screw into the gauge port on our spin-on heads and tank-top return filters. Visual gauges show green/red at a glance; electrical switches drive a dash light, buzzer or PLC input.
Pressure filter indicators (DEA/DLA/DVM, 1/2" BSPP) fit the differential port on our FHP/FMM/FMP high-pressure filters (they ship with a T2-H blanking plug in that port).

How to Choose

Suction line - vacuum gauge 0-30 Hg (visual) or ES switch (electrical).
Return line - 0-2.8 bar manometer (visual) or ER switch (electrical).
Pressure filter - DVM for a pop-up visual, DLA for LED, DEA for a straight electrical signal. T2-H blanks the port if you remove an indicator.

Technicians Advice

Read gauges at OPERATING temperature under normal load - cold thick oil reads high and will have you changing elements early. A gauge that never moves in months is worth a two-second tap test at service (stuck needles happen in high-vibration spots). Wire electrical switches to a dash lamp the operator can actually see.
