Genuine Caproni seal kits and shaft seals for Caproni group 1, 2 and 3 external gear pumps. A gear pump does not usually wear out - it leaks. The shaft seal goes first, then the body seals take a set and the pump starts to weep at the plate joints. A reseal is an hour on the bench and it gives you a pump that is as good as new, for a fraction of a replacement.

What is in each kit

• Full seal kit: shaft seal, all plate-to-plate body seals and O-rings for one pump section
• Shaft seal only: the drive shaft seal, plus the retainer where the design uses one
• Kits are supplied per pump section. A tandem pump needs one kit per section, and the sections use different kits
• Seals only - no gears, bushes, plates or shafts

Technicians Advice

• H series or not - it changes the group 3 kit. Caproni group 3 pumps in the H series body take GR305-SKH and shaft seal GR305-SSH. The plain body takes GR305-SK and GR305-SS. Look for the H in your pump part number.
• Multiple pumps need one kit per section, and the right one. On a tandem or triple, the front, middle and rear sections use different kits - GR205-SK front, GR205M-SK middle, GR205R-SK rear on a group 2 stack, and GR305F-SKH front with GR305R-SK for middle and rear on a group 3 stack. Count your sections and order accordingly.
• Viton where it gets hot. GR205-SKV and GR305-SSHV are the viton versions. Use them for hot oil, biodegradable fluid or high ambient. Nitrile goes hard and cracks; viton does not.
• GR305-SST is the high pressure shaft seal. It is a T seal rated to 30 bar of case pressure, for pumps in a stack or in a circuit where the case sees pressure. A standard shaft seal in that position will blow out.
• Check the shaft before you fit the seal. A groove worn into the shaft where the old seal ran will leak through any new seal. Catch it with a fingernail and you need a shaft or a pump, not a kit.
• Scribe the plates. Mark across the housing and both end plates before you split the pump, and note the gear orientation. It goes back together one way only.

Warranty and Service

12-month warranty. If you are unsure which kit fits, photograph the full part number on the pump body and send it through - one letter in a gear pump code changes the shaft, and the shaft changes the seal.
