Thread Standards

• BSP Parallel Male – BSPP to ISO 228. It seals on a bonded washer against the port face or on a 60° cone, never on the thread itself.

How to Choose

• A plug is male and blocks a female port. A cap is female and covers a male end. Work out which one the open connection is before you order.
• A parallel plug does not seal on the thread. It needs a bonded seal washer or a 60° cone seat in the port.
• Do not substitute a BSPT tapered plug. It bottoms part way and leaves a gap you cannot close with torque.

Technicians Advice

Fit a fresh bonded washer every time, even on a plug. A blanked port that weeps is the one nobody checks because there is no hose on it, and it will drip quietly for months.

• BSP Parallel Male – Valve and manifold ports on Australian, British and Asian-built equipment, and most locally made hose ends. The default port thread on Australian truck and agricultural hydraulics.
