ASA Hydraulik TT Rail Cooler Protection Housing Kit - TT07, TT11 and TT16 Rail

A cooler mounted out in the open has a spinning fan and a block of soft aluminium fins with nothing in front of them. This is the factory guard for that situation. It stops stones, tools and fingers reaching the fan and the fins, which keeps the core doing its job and keeps the installation safe to work around. Kits are made for TT07, TT11 and TT16 rail coolers only. Pick your cooler size below and it is on its way.

Ways to buy:

  • Off the shelf - three kits in the picker below, one each for the TT07, TT11 and TT16 rail coolers.
  • Larger coolers. Be aware that no protection housing kit is made for the sizes above TT16. If your cooler is a TT21, TT25 or TT36, this is not available for it and a fabricated guard is the usual answer.
  • Add the connector kit - TT Rail coolers ship with no threaded ports, so they also need a rail connector kit, one complete kit per cooler.
  • Add the feet - foot mounting kits are the other half of an exposed installation, standard or heavy duty.
  • Also worth a look - temperature switches and replacement fan kits.
  • Not listed? Call us and we will factory-code it. If you need a guard arrangement outside these three sizes, call and we will tell you honestly what the factory does and does not make.

SKU Fits What it does
ILLEGAKTT07GT TT07 Rail Guards the fan and the fin block on an exposed installation
ILLEGAKTT11GT TT11 Rail Guards the fan and the fin block on an exposed installation
ILLEGAKTT16GT TT16 Rail Guards the fan and the fin block on an exposed installation

Housing kits are size specific. A TT11 kit will not fit a TT07 or a TT16.

What is in the box

  • The protection housing panels and the fixings to mount the housing to the cooler, for the one size shown in your row.
  • NOT included - the cooler. This listing is the housing kit only.
  • NOT included: the rail connector kit, foot mounting kit, temperature switch or fan controller, hoses, fittings or wiring.
  • No kit exists for TT21, TT25 or TT36. We would rather tell you that up front than take an order we cannot fill.

How to choose

  • Match the kit to the cooler size, exactly. ILLEGAKTT07GT for a TT07, ILLEGAKTT11GT for a TT11, ILLEGAKTT16GT for a TT16. There is no adjustment between sizes.
  • Fit one if the cooler is exposed. Mounted low on mobile plant, out on a deck or walkway, near a wash bay, or anywhere people walk past it, a guard earns its keep on the first stone it stops.
  • Skip it if the cooler is already inside something. A cooler in a lockable enclosure or behind a machine guard does not need a second guard, and every extra layer in front of the core is another thing to keep clean.
  • Above TT16 you are fabricating. No kit is made, so plan a mesh guard that stands well clear of the core and does not choke the intake.
  • Order the connector kit and feet at the same time. An exposed installation almost always needs all three.

Technicians Advice

A guard is a restriction, so treat it as part of the airflow design rather than an afterthought bolted on at the end. Anything you put in front of a core costs you some pressure, and the cost goes up sharply as the guard gets closer to the fins or as its mesh loads up with dust and chaff. The factory housing is designed with that clearance already in it, which is exactly why a home-made plate screwed hard against the fins is usually worse than no guard at all.

What you must not do is fit a housing and then also box the cooler in. A cooler needs a genuinely clear path on both sides: an open intake and somewhere for the hot discharge to go, with roughly a fan diameter of free space on the discharge side. Put a guard on the front, a wall behind, and a lid over the top, and the fan just circulates its own hot exhaust.

The air-on temperature climbs, the oil temperature climbs with it, and nothing about the installation looks wrong. The other thing a housing changes is cleaning. Debris now collects on the guard and in the gap behind it, so build the housing into your service routine: pull it often enough to see the fins, and clean the core with low pressure compressed air blown from the outlet side back towards the intake, so the dirt leaves the way it came in.

Never take a pressure washer to a fin block. You will fold the fins flat, seal the face, and lose more capacity in thirty seconds than a season of dust would have cost you. Last point: check the housing fixings after the first fifty hours on anything mobile, because a loose guard panel will find the fan.

An exposed cooler usually needs all three: the housing, the feet, and the connector kit that gives it ports.
