
A CC Series unit is not a cooler you plumb into the machine's circuit. It is a complete offline cooling loop with its own circulation pump and its own electric motor, so it draws oil out of the tank, pushes it through the core and returns it, entirely independently of whatever the machine is doing. That buys you two real things: constant cooling performance regardless of duty cycle, and a much longer core life, because the core never sees the pressure spikes, flow surges or vibration of the main circuit. The whole point of an offline loop is that the core never sees the machine's circuit, so do not undo that by plumbing it in series with the return line. It takes suction from the tank and returns to the tank, and those two connections should be as far apart as the tank allows, with the suction low and away from the return so you are actually circulating the oil rather than short cycling the same litre.
Take suction from above the tank floor so you are not feeding the pump sludge, and bring the return back below the oil surface or through a diffuser so you are not whipping air into the tank. Keep the suction line short, one size up from the port if you can, and free of sharp elbows: these are positive displacement pumps and they will cavitate and get noisy on a starved inlet, especially on a cold morning with thick oil.
Watch the conditions of use, because they are real limits and not marketing: 100 degrees C maximum oil temperature, 50 degrees C maximum air temperature, and the motors are rated for use up to 1,500m altitude, above which they need derating.
The motors are three phase and are included, so wire them through a proper starter with the thermal overload set to the motor nameplate full load amps, 3.35A on the 1.5kW 4-pole and 1.95A on the 0.75kW 6-pole, and allow for six to eight times that as momentary direct on line inrush when sizing the contactor and upstream protection.
Check rotation before you run it for any length of time: a screw or gerotor pump run backwards will not pump and can be damaged in seconds. Ideally interlock the loop so it runs whenever the machine is powered, or better, put it on its own timer or thermostat so it keeps circulating after shutdown, which is when a hot tank does most of its oxidation damage.
Add a filter to the loop if you can: an offline circuit is the ideal place for one because the flow is steady and low pressure, so the filter actually gets to work instead of being blown through in surges. Clean the fins from the discharge side with low pressure air, and check the pump coupling and the motor feet at every service.
