
A sequence valve makes a circuit do things in order. It stays closed until the set pressure is reached — which happens once the first cylinder has bottomed out — then opens and passes flow to the second function.
The classic use is a clamp-then-cut circuit: the clamp closes first, pressure builds against the stop, the sequence valve opens and only then does the cutting cylinder move. No electrics, no limit switches.

Set it correctly: the sequence pressure must be comfortably above the pressure needed to complete the first movement, but below the system relief setting. Too close to either and the sequence becomes unreliable.
