A shuttle valve has two inlets and one outlet. A ball sits between the two inlet seats and gets pushed across by whichever side has the higher pressure, sealing the lower side off. The outlet always sees the higher of the two signals.

Where it is used

• Brake release on a winch or drive motor — pressure from either direction of travel releases the brake.
• Pilot supply where the signal can come from either of two working lines.
• Load sensing — chained together, shuttles pick out the highest load pressure from several functions.
• Gauge ports where one gauge needs to read whichever line is live.

Rated to 350 bar. The 3/4" is a steel body; the smaller sizes are aluminium.
