How to choose

• Match the thread standard and size of both male ends you are joining.
• For tapered male ends, a tapered socket seals on the thread; parallel ends need their washers.
• If one end needs to swivel for alignment, look at our swivel sockets instead.

Technicians Advice

A socket joins two seals in one short body, so give each end its own treatment: tape or sealant on tapers, bonded washers on parallel faces – and tighten the first joint fully before starting the second, or the second will back the first off as it draws down. Hold the socket body with a spanner when torquing each side; twisting the whole stack loads whatever the far end is screwed into.
