Thread Standards

• BSP Test Gauge Female – BSP female sized for a pressure gauge or test point. It seals on the gauge’s own seat or a bonded washer, depending on the gauge fitted.
• BSP Tapered Male – BSPT to ISO 7 / BS 21. It seals on the tapered thread itself, so it needs PTFE tape or a liquid thread sealant.

How to Choose

• The BSPT end seals on the thread and needs sealant.
• Confirm the gauge thread form before you fit it, parallel or tapered.
• Cap the port when nothing is on it.

Technicians Advice

An open gauge port collects grit and water, and it all goes into the circuit the moment a gauge is screwed in. Cap it between uses, even if that means one more small part on the shelf.

• BSP Test Gauge Female – pressure testing and diagnostics – permanent gauge ports on valve banks and power packs, and temporary test connections during commissioning or fault-finding.
• BSP Tapered Male – Older Australian and British pipework, gauge ports, tank and return lines, and cast pump and gearbox housings.
