How to choose
- Mixed fleet or mixed thread standards: the tapered kit covers the most ground from one case.
- Painting or powder coating: tapered caps and plugs mask threads and holes cleanly.
- Want a threaded fit that stays put on the floor: take the BSP or JIC kit.
Technicians Advice
Tapered caps are the fastest thing in the workshop to fit, which is exactly why they get used. Push them on with a slight twist so they seat evenly, and go one size up if a cap only grips the first few threads. For powder coating, they take the oven heat for a normal cure cycle but check a test piece first. Like any plastic blank, they keep dirt out and drips in, they will not hold pressure.
