Pressure Switch Protective Caps and DIN Plugs – IP65

Compact pressure switches ship with their terminals bare – IP00, which means no protection at all. That is fine inside a control cabinet and a poor idea anywhere else. A cap or a plug takes the same switch to IP65 for a few dollars.

Pick your part

Part number What it is Protection
3015001 Rubber protective cap IP65
3900001 Plastic protective cap IP65
3900200 DIN plug connector IP65

Which one?

  • Rubber cap – cheapest, flexible, pushes straight over the terminals. Best where the switch is wired permanently and will not be disturbed.
  • Plastic cap – rigid shell, better against knocks and hose-down pressure. Same job, tougher.
  • DIN plug connector – proper plug-and-socket. Costs more, but the switch can be unplugged for service without cutting wires. Worth it on anything that gets changed out.

Technicians Advice

Order the protection at the same time as the switch, not after the first fault. Bare terminals on a machine that gets washed down will corrode within a season, and the symptom – an intermittent circuit that comes good when you wiggle the wires – reads exactly like a failing switch, so people replace the switch and the fault comes straight back. Push a cap fully home and re-check it after a few hours of vibration; they can walk off. If you use the DIN plug, seat the gasket properly and do the centre screw up snug – that screw is what makes the seal, and a loose one turns an IP65 connector into a water trap.
