The counter balance valve is ideal for applications such as winching or craning. It can be adjusted to allow loads, ie fishing nets, crane loads, to only travel out at a controlled speed even if there are heavy forces involved. Without these, fishing nets etc can pull out at a uncontrolled rate. The counter balance valve has the two adjustments for both directions.
These valves all come with 1/2" BSP threaded ports (1/4" case drain counter balance valve only).

Set cross-line reliefs to your machine's specification, not to maximum. A cross-line relief protects the motor from shock loads in both directions - set too high it protects nothing, set too low it bleeds drive torque as heat. Counterbalance valves must be matched to the load-side pressure: follow the machine maker's setting and lock the adjuster. After fitting any valve block directly to a motor, cycle it slowly and check for external leaks at the interface O-rings before full-speed running.
