ORFS Male x Tubeweld Female Straight Weld-On Adaptor

An ORFS male one end and a plain weld socket the other. Puts a flat-face connection onto fabricated tube on late-model machinery.

Thread Standards

• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 O-ring face seal. It seals on an O-ring sitting in the flat face groove, never on the thread.
• Tubeweld Female (weld-on socket) – plain-bore socket sized to a tube OD, joined by welding rather than a thread. It has no seal of its own – the weld is the joint, so the tube must be clean, square and correctly prepared.

How to Choose

• Sized by tube outside diameter, not by thread. Measure the tube with vernier calipers rather than going by what the old fitting says.
• The ORFS end seals on an O-ring in the flat face. Nothing on the thread.
• Remove the O-ring before welding and fit a new one after.

Technicians Advice

Take the O-ring out before you weld. It will be destroyed by the heat, and a melted ring in the groove is worse than no ring because it looks like it is doing something.

• ORFS Male – High-pressure, high-vibration circuits on late-model excavators, drill rigs, crushers and forestry gear.
• Tubeweld Female (weld-on socket) – fabricated tube runs on machinery builds, tank and reservoir plumbing, and repairs where a threaded connection is not wanted or there is no room for one.

• ORFS Male – SAE J1453 / ISO 8434-3 O-ring face seal. Parker call this series Seal-Lok. Also written ORFS or flat face.
• Tubeweld Female (weld-on socket) – Weld-on socket, also called a weld nipple, weld boss or tubeweld end. Sized by tube outside diameter, not by thread.

Parker, Gates, Aeroquip and Ryco all manufacture to these same standards under their own part numbering, so a fitting built to the standard above will mate with theirs.
